European Server

Hello guys,

Its possible to open a new europoean server for best ping ? Everyone have approximately 80/150 ping all the time.

Thx for anwser and good game

Most L9 admins are from NA, there’s your answer

And ? all ping of players are so hight! 80%

I agree that idea, we need EU server

as much as I kinda agree with you. i’d have to say it’s a bad idea as it would split the community. I myself (Hobbit) is also from the euro region and with the settings and playing with my internet opening ports etc. I managed to get my ping from 150 down to 70-80 region. which I think is the lowest I’ve seen a euro on an american server. Correct me if I am wrong.

Most servers recently have been US based.
The Americans won’t be able to compete with us on an EU server.

we have the same ping noob
and i still woop ur sorry butt

You are correct. As for the rest of your post, I am of the same opinion. Would it be possible for you to make a guide for the other Europeans on how to achieve the lowest possible ping?

Edit:

Please. I’ll smack you about, “developer” Ckit.

New Edge server was an EU server, but you killed it…

Welcome to GrangerHub’s forums @wwFEra  !

Only about 22% of the level 9 admins on GrangerPub live in North America (I’m one of them). We picked New York City as a location for GrangerHub’s current servers as it was comparable to the location of the previously most populated server on Tremulous.

The GrangerPub US East server is located in New York City. There are a lot of players in North America as well as in South America who are in the same ping range as most European players, but who would have even higher ping on servers in Europe. Players on the East coast of Asia and in Australia would generally have lower ping on a server in New York City (although their ping is among the highest of the players on GrangerPub US East) than on most servers located in Europe.

With that said, there is a very large percentage of players in Europe.

I’ve been a regular on many European servers for years, and had a lot of fun on those servers. While having around 20 ping for me on servers located in NYC is nice I admit, I would still likely be a regular on good European servers in the future. I’m not spoiled with low ping, that is a miner factor in my personal choice in which servers to play on.

It is true at the moment the amount of regular players currently playing Tremulous is only enough for one Tremulous server to be decently active for almost 24 hours per day and 7 days per week. However there are many Tremulous players that don’t play much (or not at all) currently because there aren’t any viable servers for them to play on in their part of the world (most notably in Europe).

Another thing to keep in mind is that for Tremulous to have a viable future, it’s important for its global community to grow and our plans for Tremulous’ future need to factor in attracting and supporting new players, besides also supporting the current players. It is hoped that when GrangerHub releases 1.3, Tremulous will be attracting and retaining significantly more new players from around the world. Further development on GrangerHub’s website should also assist with this.

I should also mention that there are certain kinds of Tremulous servers that don’t require much regular activity for them to be useful but whose location are more of a factor than their activity. Examples of such kinds of Tremulous servers include (but are not limited to) scrim/clan servers and training servers.

Gah! I have 300 ping in eu server :’( if all players move to eu server im obligated to leave trem :’(

The idea is to not have the entire Tremulous playerbase move from one active server in one continent to a different a continent, but rather to have multiple active servers on multiple continents. Trem needs many highly active servers, which also means that Trem needs many more players.

I will do my best and Ito create one when i have a bit of spare time on my hands.
