How to install trem in linux mint 18?

I am really horrible at more complex linux stuff, So all I did is tried to install trem 1.1 .run file under sudo.
It apparently installed no problem under usr/local/games/tremulous
But did not work, also tried to install 1.2 on top of that, did not change a thing.
After video with piggy logo I get game console zoom MSG (here is copy of terminal text, same from console)

Try installing our latest Tremulous 1.3 alpha client release:

That client is being heavily developed, and if you find any issues with it and report those issues, we will look into fixing them.

I don’t know if anyone tried installing it with Linux Mint yet, but if not, you can be the first and we can work out any kinks that might be specific to Linux Mint :slight_smile: .

Not a Linux expert, but I was told that unlike other distros (Ubuntu), Mint does not come stock with the depreciated library files (or something to that effect) that Trem relies on to run.

Never been able to make it work, myself.

congratulations, u’ve been successfully hit by a well-known bug. update ur Tremulous binary to something more modern (avoid the „Tremulous 1.3 pre-alpha release”, because it is likely to be a hassle).
