Map release: Tremulous Gameplay Sandbox #1

A nice game was held in this map yesterday, BUT, it was unwinnable for humans since aliens built in some kind of ledge humans couldn’t get on because jetpack was disabled (We even tried luci jump, too high). Since 1.3 will have limited fuel jetpacks, maybe another version of the map with them enabled could exist?

Nice!
I released a new version. Jetpacks are now available. I hope this map will be also available on ghub because of the higher player count.

None of the trickjumping videos have aliens attacking you.

Also in trem, FF is enabled.

I just want to say that Valve Hammer SDK textures are the best.

A nade jump would be more than sufficient to get up on that ledge.

Version 1.1 is now available to play on the GrangerHub server, the GrangerClub server, and the test7341 server.

Textures not 1.1.0 Friendly.

Thank you for your bug-report.
New version released. Texture bug is fixed now.
See first post. :granger:

More importantly - how the heck would aliens attack a human who is moving like that?

Version 1.15 is now available on all three servers.

Congrats on your release!

@Matth I like the sandbox idea a lot

Some suggestions:

  1. The gridlines could actually be useful if they accurately measured game units.
IIRC I saw a place in this map where the same 256x256 print slapped on much smaller grid squares.
  2. Remove ceiling (let me go above map)
  3. Let me walk off the edges and see underneath the map.

If you can do these, I’d be very happy to use this for dev stuff

for what purposes ?

see cron’s logic.

well, i found the „256x256” funny, like a deliberate blooper. TODO: replace the size prints with texts like „insert texture here”.

Are those textures by any chance sourced from Half Life?

@ViruS

1# Why does it matter
2# Reading whole thread helps:

+no all are from valve sdk btw.

Normal ppl would think: “who cares about the texture because they are obviously placeholders, its about the map.” But not here so i draw my own special hardcore gridline (c) textures. They are included in the new map version 1.20. See first post. I hope we can go back on MAP topic. Thanks.

BTW @Matth I released an “Orange” texture pack intended for use on this kind of map (speed maps and prototypes). If you could, check them out and give me feedback about how they work - this was the initial release, I want to update / refine them.

Licensed CC0 so if you want to hax up anything before I get to it, go ahead!
