Mutagen Grenade (and more nade ideas)

Add a grenade that releases powerful bursts of cancerous radiation. It affects players and alien structures.

It changes the stats of the humans, aliens and alien structures within its range. For aliens, 1 stat gets improved while the other ones get worsened. Human stats can only get worse from radiation exposure. Every stat should either get improved or worsened by 50% (unless otherwise specified) depending on the choice of the random generator.

Affected stats are:

  • Health
  • Speed (including pounce)
  • Jump height (never chosen for improvement for marauders, or they would hit the ceiling all the time)
  • Stamina (humans)
  • Primary attack damage (eg. dragoon bite, pounce, acid tube damage, doesn’t affect human weapons)
  • Special attack damage (dragoon barbs, marauder zap, doesn’t affect human weapons)
  • Base regeneration rate (improved by 100%, worsened by 75%)
  • Poison duration (improved by 100%, worsened by 80%)
  • Poison damage
  • Swarm speed (hive)
  • Healing rate (booster)
  • Spawn delay (eggs)

It also gives the affected players and structures a radiation sickness that can’t be cured, prevents healing and lasts until it takes away 50% of their health.

Grangers can restore the worsened stats of affected players/buildings. However, the stats that were changed for the better stay as they are. This makes the grenade a double-edged sword - it can cripple aliens bad, but if they survive, they’ll become stronger than before.

This sounds like it could be pretty fun… how would it be made apparent to the player that some of their stats have changed?

Of the other stilly changes I keep playing with (I think the following pre-dates my joining of ghub team); but the grenade system is crap- but that hasn’t stopped me from trying interesting things.

In short, the grenade implementation is GARBAGE, I would really like to see more idea’s as an excuse to just to clean it up.

make it so if reactor or repeater dies you can use a mutagen grenade to provide an energy boost to structures for 15 seconds so u can buy ckit from armory or so turrets protect building reac. y/w

Would love to see this feature added.

Some other evil ideas for this thread:

Flashbang:
Causes no damage. Simply blinds any player looking at it for 3 seconds. Bonus idea: Helmeted humans and Bsuit immune to this.

Oil slick nade:
Does no damage but makes walls slippery to disable wall walk (starts to dry out after 30 seconds and the slick area “shrinks”). Bonus idea: can be lit on fire (5 seconds max).

Screamer:
A sonic nade that causes diziness and makes any player caught in it unable to hear anything (hearing restored slowly over 5 seconds).

Thermite bomb:
Tiny explosion that does no damage but leaves a burning spot on any surface which will light organics on fire if they touch it (same damage as lava). Bonus idea: Granger spit can cool it.

Sounds good- though I’d would lean towards combining “flashbang + screamer”.
