The Mercenaries Guild Repository/Archieves host a large range of files from maps, HUDs, mods (even KoRx!), clients (backports) and it is also the only place where you can get Macintosh builds for Tremfusion as well as a large range of other files such as the comic strip where you get to see NASA land their rovers on Mars just only to get trample by a Tyrant in the Advance Tactical Combat Simulator arena.
From 2013 until the recent months kdude63 has been kind enough to host a backup of all of the files hosted at the former Mercenaries Guild website. In case you don’t know what this is, it is where the default sv_durl (server download URL setting) redirects to for users to download their maps. GrangerHub servers are not effected by this however other servers that still rely on kdude’s rehosting may be effected.
In case you didn’t know, my website has redirected a lot of users to find places to download content and a majority of this content is found on the {MG} repositories/archieves and because my website is a free website hosted by Google and have only been given 100 MB of storage (which has pretty much been reached already by now as I have to delete stuff to add more stuff), I cannot obviously host the whole archieves of the MG. And before you ask, I did not backup the MG onto my hard drive since my hard drive really only fits about two hundred Gb and 29 GB on the other, it’s not like I can literally store 500 GB of data onto it, moreso the fact I cannot host…
If anyone is able to host the archives with a stable uptime, feel free to do so as it is not only an important resource, it is something that helps keep Tremulous alive despite working from the background where almost no one notices, and because at the moment there is no one out there hosting the MG resources this could mean a reduction in players for the near future (cough cough well, more than we already have).
