Scrims are completely different from normal games. You win scrims if you die few times, not if you kill much.
Plus, ppl (including me) reach those kill count by whoring as Tyrant or using Lucifer: useless.
I prefer stats like kills per minute (before S3) and K/D (always before S3).
The round that bird described (5v5, not 4v4) is an example: they were S1 (and we S2) when we got their base, and then they waited in base until we killed them. They got many kills, but it was useless.
Different fact was another round always between PMW and Fk|, where we won in six minutes because they got 1 kill: no evos, no time for a reaction, nothing.
Thatâs why I think is more important K/D and kills per minute: if well used, you will win 90% of scrims.
Normal games can train you to get this, but will be always useless because there will always be someone that ruins your âworkâ: thatâs why if youâre human you should get fastly S2 (before they reach S3), as aliens fastly S3 before humans reach S3 (kills per minute, few deaths, donate).

Building damage is just not a viable objective prior to SD unless you think you can close the game out. The only thing left to strive for is map pressure through kills and amassing resources until SD hits. Taking out a spawn or vital structure can be useful to slow their advance and relieve pressure but doing so will almost always results in your own death which makes it counter productive.
Kills are just too rewarding and the precursor for victory. There are no map objectives like control points that give score/credits, and killing their spawns only gives you an amount equal to a single frag. Kills are therefore your main if not only source of income and map pressure (forward bases suck because 100bp is all needed at your main). Kills are the only way to advance stages. Finally the only victory condition in this game ensures that you have to kill all of the opposing team
Kill whoring is a vital role that needs to take place within the team.
What needs to be clarified however is the difference between helpful and âtoxicâ kill whoring (I think the definition of kill whoring was lost through the ages, but I think initially it was always the latter form).
When you are sitting on max credits outside the mouth of the enemies base during SD, you are barely contributing anymore and need to donate or begin assisting in pushing the enemy base. Kills are useless now that you have your max stage and credits, and you should be pushing directly to destroy their base. Although I have to admit itâs still kinda fun to play this way but I think it deteriorates the experiences for the team that is behind and perhaps even players on your own team who are trying to close out the game quickly. Some people donât have time to sit and play for over an hour, and a lot of time this style of play is just delaying the inevitable. Additionally if the teams are stacked then the losing team is just constantly suiciding and flying to their doom, they canât even improve at this point, especially if they are also being spawn camped. Itâs just BM, like in other games when you know you are better than your opponent or have better gear and you are just running around and trolling them instead of putting them out of their misery. Why stall out into a 60 minute game which was already determined at 12 minutes. You can get into a brand new fresh game with new players and a new map, one that is perhaps more balanced so that you canât play so inefficiently anymore.
You can encourage the focus on other goals besides kill whoring by drastically shortening games. 15 minute SD and 30 minute TL. Perhaps enabling automatic overflow of resources would help. Lastly, people do not care if they win or lose because there is no record of it, keeping a record of their personal âhigh scoreâ is a lot easier, hence this thread. I was recently accused of being washed up as I no longer kill whore, but my win rate is at an all time high. (Every game you donât play is a win, amrite?)
If we had Tremulous stats which showed players overall winrate and this game wasnât dead I assure you people would soon care and play efficiently.
