Will it be a new homepage for Tremulous? A modder community?

GrangerHub will be middleware with two primary purposes that are interrelated:

  1. Attract and retain new potential players to Tremulous and to the Tremulous community by:
  • Promoting the game and the community,
  • Drastically simplifying the download and the installation of the game for Windows/Linux/Mac and perhaps for other platforms,
  • Making improvements of convenience to the game,
  • Finding ways to reduce the learning curve of Tremulous.
  1. Address the needs of the Tremulous community by:
  • Provide tools/resources/services to Tremulous clans, modders, mappers, modellers, other projects, and to the Tremulous players in general,
  • Create and maintain a safe, friendly, fun, and productive environment on the GrangerHub website for the community,
  • Host projects that further help GrangerHub achieve its primary purposes,
  • Help interested players become new modders/mappers/modellers/developers.

As stated those two general purposes are interrelated, since having a better community greatly helps with attracting/retaining new potential players, and bringing in new players helps improve the community.

So basically lots of forum drama, but with a focus on community-driven content that makes it easier for people to share their cool stuff with each other.

GrangerHub will consist of more than just forums. Some of it’s other systems include a main WordPress site with plugins and an awesome theme, the Granger Tracker for browsing and tracking servers/matches/stats/players/clans/mods/maps which would include the ability for the community to rate servers/mods/maps, etherpad light for real time collaborative writing and coding, the Granger Launcher, event scheduling/coordination/tracking such as scrims/tournaments/karaoke/meetings/etc, the GrangerLab for development of code and for both private and public code repos, Resource Space for Digital Asset Management, mini-sites for hosted groups such as servers/mods/maps/projects/clans, and much more.
