In lieu of recent widespread confusion and anger on Gclub as a result of scrim rules, I’ve decided to officiate a proper scrim procedure and etiquette thread. I ask that @faceman, @Bug, and @dGr8LookinSparky chime in on this thread as they are recognized clan leaders.
Let it be known: I speak only for the Fk clan when I say that we will refuse any scrim not following these specific rules and we will reference this thread anytime necessary.
Rules:
-
A proper victory is ALWAYS a 2-0. A 1-0-1 will NEVER be considered a victory.
Justification: winning on aliens and camping on humans is not healthy or fun. It encourages camping. I am going to say right now - Fk has been guilty of this before. I realize it is toxic and a waste of time. A proper 2-0 seems reasonable. -
Only 2 rounds per map. This means that if x clan wins the first round on humans and y clan wins the second round on humans that is a technical 1-1 draw. A tiebreaker should be decided by a restart of the series on the same map, or a brand new scrim on a different map. This applies even to 1-0-1 results. By technicality: A draw on the first round of the map immediately makes the result of said series a draw.
Justification: This defines contingency rules. Things get weird and results can get fucked up if you play into a 3rd or 4th or 5th tiebreaking round. Only 2 rounds per map. If those 2 rounds are a draw - restart the map and start another two rounds or go to a different map. -
Sudden death @ 20m.
Justification: This speeds things up. I know scrims can get lengthy. This is a decent amount of time for people to prepare and play prior to sudden death. -
Time limit @ 40m.
Justification: Again, speeding things up. We realize people have duties and obligations IRL. -
NO time creds/evos.
Justification: This will probably be the most controversial rule. However this will severely nerf aliens which have been overpowered in organized scrims since the dawn of 1.1. No more camping for 4 goons and running havoc over even the slightest disorganization in a human team. -
Only one non-clan sub permitted.
Justification: This just makes things pure. Scrimming 2 members of x clan and 2 free agents just makes the entire scrim feel like a PUG. Scrims are for CLANS. -
You can request ONE pause per round for a two round series. The pause will be a maximum of 5 minutes. This is to aid clans who may have a clan member experiencing real life issues and needs to go afk for a short period of time, or to find a sub for someone who may be leaving.
Justification: This is just as aforementioned an aid to help players who may be experiencing real life obligations/responsibilities and will also allow people to find a sub if someone has to leave. -
One clan picks map, the other gets to pick first race (a/h).
Justification: This is pretty standard, it’s also respectful and gives both clans something fair at the start of the series.
Controversial issues
Contingency:
In the event that the majority of one/both clan(s) has/ve to leave, the series can be picked up on a later date with the same numbers and same map. For instance, if x clan wins round 1 and both clans have to leave - that same 2 round series will be continued (if desired) on another date with the same numbers and same map. Let it be known: the same lineup is not required as that is way too situational.
Ghosting:
Clansmen are always welcome to watch their clan scrim. However because all three clans (not just Fk) have started to use third party communicative mediums we highly encourage and ask that clans don’t feel the urge to ghost. NOT TO SAY THAT THEY WILL, it is just something I feel obligated to touch on.
To exemplify Fk’s purity in scrims, from here on out the Fk clan will be using Ghub discord for all scrimmages. If we have a member in our lobby who isn’t playing, he will be muted at all times. We encourage that every other clan use Ghub discord as well. Maybe @dGr8LookinSparky or @romdos can grant admin to trusted clan leaders or clan higher ups for the discord channel so that they can kick or move unwanted people listening to their scrim. I also ask that clan channels be made for each clan respectively. Thank you.
I am predicting right now that me or my clan will be targeted for the creation of this post with things like “this is just a game why take it so seriously” etc.
I’ve made this because everyone has been getting too triggered in scrims. Shit talking is fine and all, but it’s the nature of the scrim and the vague rules we play by that triggers people (myself included). With a clear set of rules we can really start to enjoy scrims more and have some closure. @EveryoneInAClanEvenClanRivals
This procedure thread was created for the unity of this community. Hopefully clans will follow these rules and I ask either @romdos, @dGr8LookinSparky, or @MaeJong to please adjust the times on Gclub and turn off time creds/evos accordingly.
Thank you to any and all participants.
